The history of Azzolina Audio began in 1965 with a campaign for guitar lessons at the age of four. By six, a guitar was given and study provided. My teacher was a luthier as well as a musician and he made guitars in a workshop at the back of the house. After lessons I would watch him as he built guitars. If I asked good questions, care was taken to answer them well. Physics courses and study later built knowledge around the unconscious appreciation that was sown into a child's mind - music has been the inspiration, science but the means. It began with Flamenco where the earliest memories were created while listening and participating in its performance.
There are many treasures in recorded music. The intent here has been to open a door to them as honestly as possible. With a little help from my friends it came to be. Bill Jaensch and Peter Fowler brought technical knowledge of tube electronics with engineering backgrounds while I brought my own particular vision. We work together in a wonderful collaboration from which I still learn. Silver, a product designer and technical developer for a multi-national company, suggested this experience be offered to more people.
"Balfa
challenged us to 'preserve the very life of the
tradition',
cautioning that we not try to preserve artifacts, but
rather,
the process that produces the music and its makers."
Our goal has been to preserve this tradition and to
applaud those who have devoted their lives to the
creation and performance of music.
This
is why sound matters.
