The A55 Lowther Loudspeaker Driver
These Lowther drivers are one of the best sounding loudspeakers available at any cost. Unlike thier larger brother, the little Lowthers do not shout. Building on the traditional drivers strengths while overcoming their shortcomings, the 45 and 55 series drivers are very smooth and natural while delivering all the dynamics and presence this genre of driver is capable of. They also have greater high frequency extension than even the PM4A without the rising frequency response. They are overlooked because they are newer and stand in the shadow of their bigger brothers reputation yet they are easily superior. There are a variety of Little Lowthers: the A55 and A45 with Alnico magnets, the DX55 and DX45 with Neodymium magnets and the C55 and C45 with Ceramic magnets, all good candidates for the Alto horn bringing variation to suit different tastes and budgets.
