The Final Passage Crossover
Originally passive line level units as well as active crossovers were used on the Gran Sfera. They both sounded very good with the preference being the passive line level units. There is a requirement for the speaker system to work with a single pair of amps and so began the development of a conventional crossover. Together with GR research an excellent integration with a conventional crossover design was achieved that surprisingly improved on either of the line level solutions. Although conventional in configuration, the design of the Final Passage was meticulous and the components extreme. Polypro film and oil caps are used as are pure carbon film resisters. The single inductor is made from 10 gauge OFC copper weighing in at well over 25lbs to provide the lowest DCR possible.
