Gran Sfera horns are based on the Le Cleac'h expansion selected for its open sound, lack of coloration and spherical wave release. It allows nuance and dynamics of music with a natural quality. It does not sound like typical horn system being more open but with macro dynamics. The system's four elements are:
Alto Horn:
250hz horn with Le Cleac'h expansion designed for Lowther A55 driver in a dipole baffle.
Basso Horn:
120hz horn with Le Cleac'h expansion, ported rear chamber and proprietary bass driver designed specifically for this application. Response to 28hz at 100db/1watt/1m.
Grand Stand:
Isolates drivers for maximum clarity and micro detail. Separates Final Passage from Basso cabinet to prevent microphony.
The Crossing:
Provides integration of the Alto and Basso Horns with coherent phase and dynamic through extensive design and component selection. Very simple electronically, a product of evolution, a first order, single oil/Teflon capacitor and autoformer, for the Alto and the Basso uses a second order with a 20 pound OFC copper inductor and oil/Teflon capacitor.
