Gran Sfera horns are based on the Le Cleac'h expansion selected for its open sound, lack of coloration and spherical wave release. It allows nuance and dynamics of music with a natural quality. It does not sound like a typical horn system more like an electrostatic with macro dynamics. The system's four elements are:
Alto Horn:
250hz horn with Le Cleac'h expansion designed for Lowther A55 driver with open baffle rear wave release.
Basso Horn:
120hz horn with Le Cleac'h expansion, ported rear chamber and proprietary bass driver designed specifically for this application. Response to 28hz at 100db/1watt/1m.
Grand Stand:
Isolates drivers for maximum clarity and micro detail. Separates Final Passage from Basso cabinet to prevent microphony.
Final Passage Crossover:
Provides seemless integration of the Alto and Basso Horns with coherent phase and open dynamic through extensive design and component selection. It is very simple electronically, a product of evolution, a first order (a single capacitor and resister) for the Alto and the Basso uses a second order (one inductor, one capacitor) with a super high quality inductor (20lbs. of OFC copper) with low DCR to maintain excellent impulse response.
