The Basso Hybrid Bass Horn
The One Watt Trouser Flap.
The Basso Horn MKII provides true bass for first watt amplification such as single ended triode type. The horn consists of a Le Cleac'h expansion as in the Alto horn but now going down to 120hz. The back chamber is a ported bass reflex cabinet housing a fifteen inch bass driver specifically designed for this application. In particular the Basso driver has extremely low overhang due to its short throw, light weight and low inductance. The horn provides seamless matching of the upper bass and midrange to the Alto, opening up the upper registers and giving them depth. Between 120hz to 60hz the driver direct radiates mid bass. Tuned port response takes over in the lowest registers. The result is a radical and even impulse response, stunningly fast down to 30hz. Finally, the concert hall opens up and reveals its space - double bass and timpani echo off hall walls - string bass has all the punch and woody character a triode can reveal while R&B bass lines boogie and stagger.
